Ingredients:
Cement: Ordinary Portland Cement or any other suitable type.
Sand: Fine, clean, and free from organic materials or impurities.
Water: Clean and potable, without any harmful chemicals or salts.
Additives (Optional): Depending on the specific use case, additives like bonding agents, waterproofing compounds, or plasticizers can be mixed in.
Steps:
Measuring:
The standard mix ratio is 1 part cement to 4 parts sand for internal plastering. For external plastering, you might go with a 1:6 ratio.
Mixing:
Combine the cement and sand in a dry state to ensure even distribution.
Slowly add water to the dry mix while continuously stirring to avoid lumps.
The consistency should be like a thick paste, not too runny but smooth enough to apply easily.
Additives (if any):
If you're using additives, follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the amount and mix them thoroughly with the water before adding to the dry mix.
Resting:
Allow the mixture to rest for a few minutes to ensure all materials are fully absorbed and to achieve the desired workability.
Application:
Apply the ready plaster mixture to the surface using a trowel, spreading it evenly and ensuring a smooth finish.
The thickness of the plaster should generally be around 12-15mm for a single coat.
Curing:
After application, keep the plastered surface moist for at least 7 days to ensure proper curing and to prevent cracking.
